American Sniper Authors: Chris Kyle, Scott McEwen, Jim DeFelice 480 pages ISBN-10: 0062376578

In a word American! Chris Kyle, a fierce patriot, warrior and Navy Seal. The book, readable and not what I expected. I’m curious about the movie based on the book, as book left a lot to be desired. As a biography it’s an informative account of a Navy Seal’s trials and tribulations during wartime and in family life

High points; the comradery of Seals and lifelong bonds between Seals; the justifiable concern the author has for how vets are treated in the US; rigor given to ROE and required documentation of kills (possibly overemphasized inclusion for public and political acceptance of the book).

Low points; questionable use and frequency of the word “savage” in reference to the enemy (reminiscent of use by Americans in reference to other cultures like Native Americans and African slaves); overuse of the word “bad ass”; the narrative is a 3 out of 5.
