Written by: The Great Courses Narrated by: Professor Robert Greenberg Release Date: 07-08-2013

Like the integration of his music into these lectures, really added value to the learning. This series of lectures by Greenburg covers the entire life of Beethoven and his music. An absolute genius and well ahead of this time, and producing incredible compositions even while deaf.

I have many of the Great Courses lectures, most are quality material done by exceptional educators. This one is the best so far. Greenberg is a master lecturer. I became so thoroughly engaged that I couldn't stop listening. Ludwig van Beethoven was certainly a troubled man and struggled with his personal and family life.

These struggles, crises, and many others issues throughout his life drove Beethoven into a solitary and depressive state. This allowed himself to reinvent himself and his music into disruptive works of passion and beauty. 5 of 5.

His story is fascinating.
